POWRIG Quick Release Plate with ARRI Anti-Twist Pin
The POWRIG QR-Mini is a compact quick release plate with an integrated ARRI-standard locating pin that prevents mounted accessories from rotating under torque. It features both 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded holes on the base, allowing it to mount on camera cages, tripods, magic arms, and light stands with either thread standard.
The QR-Mini accepts any accessory with a matching quick release receiver — cameras, field monitors, LED video lights, wireless receivers, and other on-camera accessories — and locks them securely in place with a tool-free locking lever.
Key Features
- ARRI Locating Pin (Anti-Twist) — The integrated locating pin follows the ARRI anti-rotation standard. When engaged with a matching locating hole on the accessory or QR receiver, it prevents the mounted device from spinning on the plate — a critical feature for monitors and lights that must maintain a fixed orientation during gimbal movement, vehicle mounting, and handheld shooting.
- Dual Thread Base: 1/4"-20 & 3/8"-16 — Two threaded mounting holes on the base plate accept both the 1/4"-20 screw (standard on camera cages, tripods, and small accessories) and the 3/8"-16 screw (standard on light stands, C-stands, and heavy-duty studio arms). One plate covers both mounting ecosystems.
- Quick Release Lever Lock — The side-mounted locking lever releases and secures the mounted accessory in seconds without tools. Flip the lever open to release, press the accessory into place, and flip the lever closed to lock. Faster and more secure than screw-based mounting for accessories that are frequently swapped on set.
- CNC Aluminum Alloy Construction — Machined from solid aluminum alloy with a black anodized finish. Provides rigid, flex-free support for cameras, monitors, and lights. Will not crack or deform under the repeated stress of quick-release cycling.
- 60 g Ultra-Compact — Weighs only 60 grams (2.1 oz). Small enough to leave permanently mounted on a camera cage or carry in a pocket as a spare adapter. Adds negligible weight to gimbal and Steadicam payloads.
- Universal Accessory Compatibility — Works with any camera, monitor, or light that has a standard quick release receiver or a 1/4"/3/8" threaded mounting point. Common pairings include SmallHD, Atomos, FeelWorld monitors; Aputure, Ulanzi LED lights; and Sony, Canon, Panasonic mirrorless cameras with base plates.

What Is an ARRI Locating Pin and Why Does It Matter?
The ARRI locating pin is an anti-rotation feature originating from ARRI's professional camera and accessory ecosystem. It is a small metal pin that protrudes from the quick release plate and engages a matching hole on the accessory's QR receiver.
Without a locating pin: A monitor or light mounted on a standard QR plate can rotate freely around the single mounting screw. On a gimbal, vehicle mount, or handheld rig, vibration and movement cause the accessory to spin out of position — requiring constant re-adjustment.
With a locating pin: The accessory is locked in a fixed angular position. It cannot rotate regardless of vibration, gravity, or movement forces. This is essential for:
- Monitors that must stay oriented toward the operator
- LED lights that must maintain a fixed beam direction
- Wireless transmitters that must keep antenna orientation
- Any accessory on a gimbal or moving platform where rotation would disrupt the shot
The ARRI locating pin standard has been widely adopted by third-party manufacturers including SmallRig, Tilta, Wooden Camera, and POWRIG, making it the de facto anti-rotation standard in the camera accessory industry.
Common Setups Using the QR-Mini
- On-camera monitor mount — Screw the base into a camera cage 1/4" hole or 3/8" hole, then quick-release your field monitor (SmallHD, Atomos, FeelWorld) onto the plate. The ARRI pin prevents the monitor from rotating during gimbal moves.
- LED video light mount — Mount a compact LED panel (Aputure MC, Ulanzi VL49, Neewer RGB) on a cage or light stand via the 3/8" thread. Quick-release allows fast light swaps between setups.
- Magic arm adapter — Screw the QR-Mini onto a magic arm's 1/4" or 3/8" thread, then quick-release a monitor or light for flexible overhead or side positioning.
- Light stand to camera accessory — Use the 3/8"-16 thread to mount the plate on a standard light stand, then attach a camera, phone holder, or small monitor for product photography and streaming.
- Accessory swapping on set — Mount multiple QR-Mini plates on different accessories (one on your monitor, one on your light, one on your wireless receiver) and swap them on and off a single cage-mounted QR receiver throughout the shoot day.
1/4"-20 vs. 3/8"-16 Thread: What's the Difference?
| Thread Standard | Diameter | Common Use | Found On |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1/4"-20 | 6.35 mm | Cameras, small monitors, light accessories | Camera cages, tripods, magic arms, cold shoe adapters |
| 3/8"-16 | 9.53 mm | Heavy-duty stands, studio rigs, large accessories | Light stands, C-stands, studio arms, Manfrotto heads |
The QR-Mini includes both thread sizes on the base, so it adapts to whichever mounting point is available on your rig — without needing a separate 1/4" to 3/8" bushing adapter.
